Auckland FC are on the verge of being crowned Premier Plate winners in the Australian A-League.
The New Zealand side sits at the top of the division and is in pole position to enter the May finals series at the summit of the premier Antipodean competition.
It’s a noteworthy achievement, given that the North Island club was formed as recently as March 2024 as part of the A-League expansion.
The Black Knights, who play out of the 25,000-capacity Go Media Stadium, are owned by Bill Foley, who also controls Bournemouth FC in England.
The seaside theme is not lost on the Auckland FC supporters, whose active fans’ group is called “The Port,” complete with a sailor mascot.

If Auckland FC maintains its form and its nearest rivals, Melbourne City, falter, the New Zealanders will be favourites to win the Grand Final.
